The project :<\/b><\/p>\n

The art-info.be website aims to provide as comprehensive an overview as possible of the history of art in Belgium (1830-2030): general chronology, artists, artist groups, works, institutions and private initiatives, events and exhibitions, movements and trends, key figures and bibliography.<\/p>\n

Guidelines for content and use:<\/b><\/p>\n

The chronology forms the structural core of the system presented here.<\/p>\n

Using the Ctrl+F function, you can find the following:<\/p>\n

– artists
\n– artist groups
\n<\/span>– institutions or galleries<\/span><\/p>\n

To facilitate the use of the site, we collect, as time permits, biographies, the history of certain groups of artists, institutions or galleries, as well as analyses of exhibitions and events.<\/p>\n

This site also offers a list (currently under development) of figures who have played an active role on the national art scene, including many art historians involved in the historical period covered (1830-2030).<\/p>\n

You will also find a preliminary bibliography that aims to become as comprehensive as possible.<\/p>\n

This site allows you to initiate numerous searches on personalities, groups or institutions, as well as on specific themes (geographical areas, historical periods, disciplines and techniques, roles of personalities, types of operators and publications, etc.).<\/p>\n

Finally, art-info.be offers a glossary with quotations of terms useful for reflection on art history, such as concepts used in our field of research.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
